Great fish and chips (cod or haddock). And above all CLEAN (no greasy tabletops...)

Changed my review from a 5 star because of price increase 12 dollars for fish n chips is to much. Plus there is no restroom not coming back for that price. (update) Oct 2017prices have gone down people are happy food is great from $12.00 to $8.99 back to five stars

they have a good selection of fried fish, shrimp , scallops and shoestring fries. good service to eat in or take out

The fish is always fresh no matter what. Your meal is always hot. I never got a bag meal.

I have been going to this fish-and-chips restaurant since the 1970s. The food is always top notch the service is always fast and perfect and this is the best place for fish-and-chips in Fairfield County

I come here more in the summer than the winter, but the food is consistent, delicious, and not greasy. Atmosphere is laid back, prices are quite reasonable. I dig the fact that they cook most, if not all, of the meal in front instead of in back.I keep returning for a reason, after all.

Love this place. I always stop here when in town. The Cod still tastes good from the first time I tried it. And them having Snapple...makes it all good.

We have been going to get fish & chips here for years, we have always compared any fish & chips we get other places to Royal Guards. They had a great coating and the portions they gave were big. We don't live in Stamford anymore but when in the area look forward to the best fish & chips we know about. What a disappointment, today we were in town and looking forward to Royal Guard Fish & chips. THEY CHANGED THE COATING WE LOVED!!!! The old coating was crisp and they would even give you extra pieces of the cooked coating. Today the coating was totally different not crispy but rubbery!! I went up to the counter and asked about the coating, why was it different, I was told the company they got it from went out of business. I always thought they made the coating there. There must be a recipe for that coating. Very sad about the change,will not go back there now.🙁☹😢

Nicest people ever. It's like traveling back in time when people that owed business cared if you came back.Oh the fish is out of this world. So good great portions

Greasy under cooked chips bland fish better 20years ago

Very good food. Not a real seafood restaurant just a fish and chip takeout. They have tables but its more like a fast food fish shop. But nevertheless it is very good the customer service is top notch. If you want the best fried cod around go here to eat you will enjoy.

Fish is genuine and the presence of malt vinegar was much appreciated. However, the chips were just fries.

The employees do not wear masks or follow safety protocols here

Been going there for the last 20 years great food

We have gone here many times while we were in Stamford. Average tasting fish and chips, a little too greasy, thick coating of batter on the fish. They don't offer much on the menu as far as variety, but it's not awful tasting. Have had better fish and chips around towns close by.

The fried fish was everything you would want the fried fish to be. We had a number of items, the basic cod, clams oysters shrimp and soft shell crabs all of which were very good. The one disappointment was the French fries of the McDonald's variety which I found to be stiff, for lack of a better word, like cardboard. It was the end of the night and I don't remember them being like that on other visits.

This place has been here since I was a kid, and hasn't changed much, which to me is a good thing. Food was good, il be going back.

This place has been running for longer than I have been around and it is a solid spot for fast seafood. The food isn't too greasy at all and it is not expensive. Definitely worth the quality because some of the dishes or cooked right when you order them.

Okay i was amazing but for me it was too much chicken finger sooo ya BUT EVERTHING WAS DELICIOUS

I went to get fried clams, but they served deep fried clam strips instead. Perhaps it's a language barrier on what they are serving. Stil, it's disappointing when I'm set to have a New England food, and even used Google to find a place.

Nice place food is okay service are very rude short Spanish guy up front elderly gentleman very rude and disrespectful girlfriend ordered a sandwich he messed up guessing that he didn't have nobody to help him out instead gave her attitude and started making her cry cuz he messed up her own order not happy at all. Very rude

For deep, simple & good fry fish, this is the place. Unpretentious, clean and good service.

Great place to eat a fresh chicken sandwich with fries for $7. The atmosphere is relaxed and clean. The prices are competitive and worth the money.

They don't know the first thing about fried clams. The price should have told me it wasn't going to be the real deal.
